The MPV piston seal performs best against the main competitor hard grade polyurethane seals. Extraordinary for the MPV is a very low leakage rate. This is a result of combining a high performance material and an optimized MPV seal geometry.

Very low friction and low leakage together can only be reached by perfect regulation of the lubrication film thickness. Test results confirm that the MPV piston seal manages the lubrication film thickness better than competitor seals.

Extrusion length

The extrusion performance is a strong indicator of the material performance. The dynamic test results underline that X-ECOPUR PS outperforms competitor materials by displaying the lowest extrusion length, which extends the MPV’s seal lifetime.

The graph shows static extrusion test results for X-ECOPUR PS. It shows, that even at extrusion gap values up to 0,70 mm and temperatures up to 100 °C, the extrusion length for X-ECOPUR PS is on a moderate level. Comparing typical hydraulic cylinder extrusion gap parameters and temperatures, the extrusion resistance for X-ECOPUR PS is on an outstanding level.

Comparing X-ECOPUR PS to competitor products, the graph shows, that SKF X-ECOPUR PS material has a significantly higher extrusion performance over the whole temperature range and extrusion gap area. Increasing the static extrusion length results in higher friction and reduced seal lifetime.
