Sealing solutions

All shaft systems include a shaft, bearings, housing(s), lubricant, associated components, and seals. Seals are vital to the cleanliness of the lubricant and the service life of the bearings.
Where seals for rolling bearings are concerned, a distinction is made between seals that are integrated in the bearing and those that are positioned outside the bearing. Bearings that are capped with seals or shields are generally used in shaft systems where an effective external sealing arrangement is not practical due to space or cost reasons, or where these seals or shields are adequate for the operating conditions.
