Each co-operation achieves win-win success
Vast China offers real prospects
In China, SKF provides customised solutions for local development, meeting the needs and accomplishing win-win success. Whether they are state-level projects such as the Beijing Olympics, the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station, and Donghai Bridge Offshore Wind Farm, or life-enhancing projects such as the Chinese Railway High-speed Multiple Unit (CRH MU), Tianjin Bascule Bridge, and Hong Kong Ocean Park, SKF knowledge and innovation are there.
Since 2006, SKF has supplied CRH series locomotives with sound application engineering and product services as well as solutions suitable for China. It has become a key partner
in this area.
From 2007, with bearings as its core platform, SKF started to provide China Railway High-speed multiple units with comprehensive solutions covering sealing, mechatronic products, and axle boxes as well as engineering and maintenance services to support high-speed operation of wheel axle and drive systems.
In 2009, SKF provided the largest bascule bridge in Asia – the Tianjin Bascule Bridge crossing the Haihe River – with large spherical roller bearings, lubrication solutions and technical support such as engineering calculation.
In 2009, SKF provided the first offshore wind farm, Donghai Bridge Offshore Wind Farm, with main shaft bearings, sealing systems and professional engineering services.
In 2009, SKF provided Hong Kong Ocean Park with continuous monitoring of its gearbox with SKF online monitoring technology to prevent unexpected breakdowns which would have left
passengers stranded high in the air.
From 2009, SKF started to formulate a series of solutions for vehicles of models A and B of Chinese urban mass transit and now SKF has established a local integrated service system for local manufacture and maintenance. At the same time, SKF has provided customers with application engineering knowledge to effectively support vehicle manufacturing and safe
operation of those vehicles.
SKF and Taiyuan Mining have had a strong co-operation for almost 20 years. During that period, Taiyuan Mining selected SKF as the partner for all bearings and transmission of
the machines that it developed: its first electric haulage shearer, first intelligent shearer, China’s first 10m-ton shearer, and the newly launched, globally-largest 3000kw shearer.
In 2010, the Automotive Division of SKF China completed a project to localise engineering development, and successfully developed the sensor-integrated HBU 3, used in high-end
commercial vehicles, for General Motors Group.
SKF has provided solutions and technical support for high quality sealing for the hydraulic generators, the largest in the world, at the Three Gorges Hydroelectric Power Station, which is the largest project in Chinese history.
