Free space on both sides of the bearing
To prevent interference between rotating and stationary components, the abutment diameter on the shaft should be < d2 and in the housing > D1 (fig. 1). Values for d2 and D1 are listed in the product tables.
The necessary width of the free space Ca depends on:
- the actual misalignment
- the possible protrusion of the cage from the side face of the bearing for some bearing sizes
That requisite free space should be at least 20 times the minimum value of the radial internal clearance in the unmounted bearing (table 1 or table 2).
