SKF hybrid bearings

Mixing materials for more fan compressor uptime

Well suited to compressor operating requirements, SKF hybrid bearings feature a robust mix of steel bearing rings and silicon nitride rolling elements.

Silicon nitride is an electric insulating ceramic that also has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, making the hybrid bearing less sensitive to temperature gradients at high temperatures. The capability to run under poor lubrication enables design of low friction solutions in which the bearings run cooler, design is simpler and friction significantly reduced. Thanks to the lower material density of the ceramic rolling elements and lower inertia, higher speeds and more rapid starts and stops are possible.

An excellent multi-functions-in-one solution, SKF hybrid bearings offer several benefits:
  • Greater reliability
  • Reduced maintenance
  • Extended service life
  • Lower operating costs
  • Effective electrical insulation
  • Global availability and support
