Load carrying ability

SNL plummer block housings are intended for loads acting vertically towards the base plate (support). Therefore, if the housing is supported over its entire base, loads are limited only by the load limits of the bearing. If loads acting in other directions occur or if the housing is not supported over its entire base area, check that the magnitude of the load is permissible for the housing, the bolts joining the housing cap and base, and for the attachment bolts.

Load carrying ability of the housing

Guideline values for the breaking load P of the housing for various load directions are provided in the table. The limit for P applies only when the housing is not supported over its entire base area. Using these values and a safety factor selected with respect to the operating conditions, the permissible load for the housing can be calculated. General engineering practices recommend a safety factor of 6. The values apply to properly secured housings. Also see Mounting.
For housings made of spheroidal graphite cast iron the values for P obtained from the table should be multiplied by a factor of 1,8.
For housings with a Z-prefix (housings with integrated sensors for condition monitoring) the values for P obtained from the table should be multiplied by a factor of 0,7.

Load carrying ability of cap bolts

Cap bolts (bolts joining housing cap and base) for SNL plummer block housings of strength class 8.8 are supplied as standard. Guideline values for the yield point Q for different load angles and maximum values for the radial load acting at various angles to the vertical axis can be found in the table.
