Housings

SKF roller bearing units are available in various flanged housing series:
  • metric SKF ConCentra units in the FYNT series (fig 1), which can be bolted to flat surfaces
  • units with a locking collar in the FYR and FYE series (fig 2), which can be bolted to flat surfaces
  • units with a locking collar in the FYRP series (fig 3), which can be inserted into a bore in the machine wall
The housings are made of grey cast iron.
SKF ConCentra units in the FYNT series are produced in two housing designs depending on the size (fig 4):
  • housings with a triangular shaped flange for shaft diameters da ranging from 35 to 60 mm
  • housings with a square shaped flange for shaft diameters da ranging from 65 to 100 mm
These housings have either three or four drilled holes depending on the design. The area around the holes is strengthened to minimize the risk of cracking caused by possible over-tightening of the attachment bolts.

Locating and non-locating units

All SKF flanged roller bearing units are available as:
  • locating bearing units (fig 5)
  • non-locating bearing units (fig 6)
Additional information is provided in the section Locating and non-locating units.

Location on the shaft

SKF flanged roller bearing units are located on the shaft in two different ways:
  • with concentric locking via a stepped sleeve (fig 7) for metric SKF ConCentra units
  • with locking collar attachment (fig 8) for inch units
Additional information about the two types of location is provided in the section Location on the shaft.

Seals

Metric SKF ConCentra units with a flanged housing are produced with:
  • double-lip seals (fig 9)
Inch SKF ConCentra units and units with a locking collar are produced as standard with:
On request, these units can be supplied with:
Information about the seal designs is provided in the section Seals.

End covers

End covers are available for flanged roller bearing units fitted at shaft ends:
  • For SKF ConCentra units in the FYNT series, the end covers are made of plastic, for the time being available for sizes 35 to 75 (fig 13)
  • For units with a locking collar, the end covers are made of sheet steel (fig 14)
Additional information is provided in the section End covers.
