SKF has been involved in racing for nearly a century and collaborates with the most demanding and prestigious customers in the sector. Few, if any, settings offer a more intense and exacting test environment than top-class racing. Knowledge gained from SKF’s cutting edge product development for the racing industry is used to offer new solutions to automotive clients with high volume manufacturing as well as customers in the independent automotive aftermarket.
From the classic blue Bugatti’s of the 1930’s with roller bearing central crankshaft support, to the sophisticated and highly complex Grand Prix thoroughbreds of today, SKF’s technology has kept gearboxes shifting, camshafts revolving and wheels turning.
SKF’s cooperation with Scuderia Ferrari spans almost 70 years – the longest uninterrupted partnership in the history of Formula One.
The partnership includes the supply of advanced bearing and sealing solutions, condition monitoring devices as well as engineering services with a special focus on supporting them develop energy recovery systems.
The current Formula One model has more than 150 SKF components in its wheels, engine, gearbox and suspension.
Other technical partners within Formula One include Renault F1, the Red Bull Racing team and Scuderia Toro Rosso as well as WilliamsF1 and McLaren.
The cooperation between SKF and Ducati began in the forties. Since then, the two companies have overcome the difficulties and challenges demanded by the fast developing technologies in the world of two-wheelers.
With Ducati in the World Superbike Championship the partnership has been consolidated even further. The story has continued with new Ducati Desmosedici adventure in the Moto GP world championship.
For almost two decades, SKF has been both a technical partner and sponsor for NASCAR.
The partnership with Penske Racing enables SKF to test products under the harshest conditions within both the NASCAR and IndyCar series.
The SKF-Betamotor partnership began in the sixties and for over 50 years motocross, enduro and trial motorcycles have been equipped with SKF products.
