SKF India Announces Appointment of Mr. Shishir Joshipura

As Additional Director and Managing Director Effective 1st Dec 2009


Monday, 21st September 2009: The Board of Directors of SKF India Limited, India's leading technology and solutions provider of bearings, seals and related products and services, today appointed Mr. Shishir Joshipura as Additional Director and Managing Director of the Company, effective 1st December, 2009. Mr. Shishir Joshipura comes from a renowned Indian engineering and manufacturing company, where he has had a long career spanning 26 years, working in different capacities.


Mr. Shishir Joshipura will take over from the current Managing Director of SKF India Limited, Mr. Rakesh Makhija, who has been appointed as President, Asia of the SKF Group effective 1st January, 2010. In this capacity, Mr. Rakesh Makhija will work closely with the Business Divisions to build a strong infrastructure in Asia to drive the next phase of SKF's growth in this important region.   


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tom Johnstone, SKF Group President and CEO stated, "The SKF Group has developed very positively in Asia over the last few years and the region has become a rapidly growing and increasingly important market for the SKF Group. In order to strengthen SKF's presence in the region and to have a consistent and focused approach in our business across all Divisions, it has been decided to create a new position for the Asian Region in SKF Group Management."


Based in Shanghai, Mr. Rakesh Makhija will report to Mr. Tom Johnstone, SKF Group President and CEO and will be a member of SKF Group Management.
