SKF India Ltd's six member Board of Directors includes four independent members and two senior executives from SKF Group. The members steer the operations focused on Audit, Nominations & Governance, Executive Development, Finance, Performance and Reviews. 
R. Makhija, Chairman
Rakesh Makhija

Mr. Rakesh Makhija was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in July 2015. Prior to this he was the President, SKF Asia from January 2010. Before which he was the Managing director of SKF India and successfully led SKF India to a path of high growth and market leadership. Under his leadership, SKF India has more than tripled its sales and has been recognized through numerous industry awards for market leadership, amongst them the prestigious ‘CNBC Business Leader Award for Talent Management’ in 2007.

 

Rakesh has been associated with SKF Group for over 7 years as the Managing Director of the Company and is responsible to work closely with the various business divisions for building a strong infrastructure for SKF in Asia to drive the next phase of growth in the region. During this period he had taken several initiatives to focus on growth, value addition and cost effectiveness besides overseeing the company’s businesses.

 

Through his key initiatives to drive the growth for the company, Rakesh has played an instrumental role in the SKF Group receiving recognition and awards from its various suppliers, customers and institution. Few of these recognitions are:

 

·        CNBC Asia’s ‘India Business Leader Award’ for Talent Management

·        ‘Autofit Rolling Trophy’ at the 4th National convection on Six Sigma organized by the CII.

·        ‘Dun and Bradstreet – American Express Corporate Award’ as the top company in the Bearing Sector.

·        Best Quality /Supplier award from Bajaj, Lucas TVS and ELGI

·        ‘Green Manufacturer of the Year’ for promoting green practices within SKF manufacturing facilities

 

Prior to joining SKF, Rakesh held a number of senior management positions with Tata Honeywell and Honeywell International, the global Industrial and Aerospace company. In

1997, he was nominated to the Tata Honeywell Board of Directors and soon after named as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. In April 2000, he was appointed Country Manager and Managing Director of Honeywell International, with responsibilities for driving the company’s growth in South Asia. Before Honeywell, Rakesh worked with Kinetics Technology International BV, a process engineering company in Netherlands, for over eight years.

 

Rakesh also represents as a Member on the Board of Wafangdian Bearing Company Limited, SKF Bearings Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd and P.T. SKF Indonesia.

 

Rakesh is based in Mumbai, India and holds a Chemical Engineer degree from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi



P.R.Menon

Mr. P. R. Menon is on the SKF India Board of Directors since March 2011 and is also the Member of the Audit Committee of the company. A Chemical Engineer from IIT Kharagpur, he has over 40 years of diverse experience with the premier multinational and Indian companies in the chemical and power industry.

 

After his association of 20 years with ICI Limited, Mr. Menon joined Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals and held several positions of higher order like the Technical Director and Agri Business Sector Chief at the Nagarjuna Group. He is presently on the Board of Tata Chemicals Limited, Tata Industries Limited, Tata Projects Limited, Tata Consulting Engineers Limited, Tata Ceramics Limited, Tata BP Solar India Limited, NELCO Limited, Supervisory Board of the Sanmar Group and Axis Bank Limited.


Furthermore, Mr. Menon is the Chairman of Tata Quality Management Services, Tata Group Safety Committee and a member of other key Tata Group Committees, like Climate Change &           Business Excellence.  In addition, he is also the member of the Advisor Council of IITB-Monash Research Academy, Governing Council of Centre for Environment Education, Nehru Foundation for  Development, and is also the first President of the Korea-India Business Association.

S Joshipura, Managing Director

Mr .Shishir Joshipura joined SKF in 2009 as Managing Director of SKF India Ltd to lead SKF’s drive towards consolidating its position as the leading manufacturer of bearing, seals, lubrication systems, mechatronics and services. In addition to this assignment, he is also Country Manager for the group which includes the group’s business of SKF Technologies Pvt. Ltd and Lincoln Helios India Pvt Ltd

 

A mechanical engineer from BITS, Pilani, and an Advanced Management graduate from Harvard Business School, Shishir joined SKF in 2009 as Managing Director of SKF India Ltd, leading SKF towards consolidating its position as the leading manufacturer of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services and aftermarket products. Shishir is also the Country Head for SKF group’s subsidiaries in India - SKF Technologies Pvt Ltd and Lincoln Helios India Pvt Ltd.

 

Shishir is responsible for driving the growth of SKF in India. In the past couple of years SKF has strengthened its position in India by investing in manufacturing plants in Ahmadabad, Haridwar and a Global R&D Centre in Bangalore. The R&D Centre will leverage SKF’s global knowledge and technology for local customers.

 

Prior to joining SKF, Shishir was with Thermax for 26 years where he began his career. Shishir held several key positions as he rose through the ranks to become the Executive Vice President and Global Head of Cooling and Heating business. He was also the Director of overseas subsidiaries of Thermax in USA, Europe, South America and successfully set up a manufacturing subsidiary China.

Before SKF, he was the CEO of Thermax Energy Performance Services.

 

Shishir is passionate about Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Carbon Intensity Reduction and played an instrumental role in setting up of Alliance for Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) body and has been serving as its Director since 2009.He currently serves as a member of board for SBI Mutual Fund and Thermax Sustainable Energy Services Ltd. Previously he served as the Director of Process Plant and Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) from 2005 to 2007 and later as the Chairman of PPMAI from 2007 to 2009.

 

 

P.M.Telang

Mr. Prakash M. Telang was appointedas an Additional Director on SKF India Ltd. board with effect from October 23, 2012.He has over 40 years of experience in the automotive industry and machinery manufacturing. Before being appointed as Tata Motors’ Managing Director – India operations, he was Executive Director of the company responsible for the company’s Commercial Vehicles Business Unit.

 

Mr Telang,  a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from VNIT Nagpur, has always had a keen passion for the automotive and aerospace industry. After spending the first three years of his career with Larsen & Toubro, he, did his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and joined the Tata Group in 1972 through the prestigious Tata Administrative Service (TAS) cadre. Ever since, he has been in the management team of Tata Motors.

 

His journey through Tata Motors has been a rich and varied one. He joined Tata Motors on 1st June, 1972 and spent the early years with  the Machinery Manufacturing Division, designing and manufacturing equipment required for Tata Motors’ automobile activities. He then did a stint with the Projects department, which was responsible for launching new products which were cutting edge at their time. In 1986, he joined the vehicle manufacturing operations and thereafter grew to Head Commercial Vehicle manufacturing Operations in Pune and Dharwad plants.

 

He became President CVBU Pune on 1st July, 2004. Subsequently on 18th May 2007, he was appointed Executive Director , Commercial Vehicle Business Unit and on 2nd June, 2009 he became the Managing Director.During his term as Managing Director, he has spearheaded Tata Motors’ growth in the Small Commercial vehicle segment.

On the passenger car business as well, Tata Motors has emerged with some exciting and innovative products under his leadership.

 

Mr. P.M.Telang  stepped down on 21st June, 2012 from the post of Managing Director, Tata Motors Limited after attaining the superannuation age of 65 years.

 

Even post his superannuation,  he continues to be associated with strategically important ventures within the Tata Group and beyond. He is currently the Chairman of Telco Construction Equipment Company Limited.   He is Director on the board of Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Limited, Fiat India Automobiles Limited  and Tara Aerospace Systems Limited. In addition, he is also an Independent Director on the Board of Persistent Systems Ltd.

 

He has been recognised for his achievements  as ‘Distinguished Alumnus’ by both his alma maters – VNIT Nagpur and IIM Ahmedabad, during their Golden Jubilee years in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

 

 

Hema Hattangady
Ms. Hema Hattangady has been an Additional Director of SKF India Ltd. since July 18, 2014.
Stephane Le-Mounier
Mr. Stephane Le-Mounier, age 50 years, is a French national and presently placed at SKF Group headquarters. He has been the Director of the Aerospace Business since 2010 and brings in an extensive professional experience of over 25 years in the field of Finance and Manufacturing. At present, Mr. Le-Mounier is the President of SKF's Automotive Division, SKF Group.

During the last six years, Mr. Le-Mounier has led three business units across the Automotive and Industrial Business areas. He has strong business and technical background.

In the past, Mr. Le-Mounier has held several positions within the SKF Group like BU Director Strategic Industries, BU Director Actuation and Motion Control, BU Director Powertrain and Steering, Automotive, General Manager, Slewing Bearings, Avallon, Industrial Market, Global Segment Manager Industrial Market.

Mr. Stephane Le-Mounier a Mechanical Engineer and holds a Post Graduate Degree in Finance and Controlling from ESSEC Business School, Paris and a Diploma in Sales and Marketing from ESV Business School. He also has to his credit, a Senior Executives Program from the London Business School.
