"It is fantastic to see what we can achieve when knowledge from different disciplines is harmonised and focused towards common goals.”
Micael - Business Development
Eighteen months into his career as a Project Leader at SKF, Micael highlights a positive working environment and a knowledge-sharing culture as two of the main reasons he chose a career with us. However, his SKF career was already underway as a student.
"As part of my M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, I spent 5 months in Shanghai doing my Master thesis at SKF Shanghai Bearing Company. During that time I found SKF to be an interesting company and when my work there was complete, I had the opportunity to start at SKF in Gothenburg."
Micael goes on to describe how teamwork influences his role – and career.
"My role as a Project Leader within speciality products means I work with increasing SKF’s share of customised offers. Right now I’m setting up a framework for a new cross-functional team in six different factories around the world. It is fantastic to see what we can achieve when knowledge from different disciplines is harmonised and focused towards common goals. Quite often my work involves helping colleagues approach a challenge from a fresh perspective or implement a new way of working or thinking. This is highly enjoyable!"
SKF’s company culture has also impressed Micael.
"I am a still a relatively new employee at SKF but from day one my colleagues have been very supportive and extremely willing to share their knowledge and I feel that my ideas and opinions are valued. The fact that this culture of knowledge sharing is international is very positive too."
And how does Micael see his future within SKF?
"Soon I’ll be moving on to my second position within the company as Global Business Developer for a product called SKF ConRo. I am looking forward to the challenges this will bring – although this will be a big challenge for my own skills and knowledge, I feel secure because I will be supported by very skilled colleagues. I guess that sums up my experience so far – a fantastic, knowledge based support network and unlimited opportunities to develop and take responsibility for my own career."
