Summary

Technologies move at dramatically different speeds but, whatever the pace, it's the concerns of today that will drive the changes of tomorrow.   If SKF's founder Sven Wingqvist time travelled to 2011, he  would  recognize today's self-aligning ball bearing as a close relative of his 1907 invention.  Electronic technology innovation moves much faster, however, and is less predictable.  As a child of the 1960s, I could not have predicted the rise of mobile phones, GPS and the whole communications revolution that to drive change in every corner of our lives.
SKF, the Knowledge Engineering Company is looking to the future in new ways. Our innovation may be focused on the short, medium or long term but it is always driven by needs. For example, the need to reduce energy consumption, and conserve our planet's natural resources, means that sustainability will be a key driver going forward. The talk will review how SKF is shaping up its technology for the future.
