Nitrile (NBR) may be the most common elastomeric seal material for use in applications requiring oil resistance, durability and set resistance. Nitrile materials are compatible with most hydraulic media, including petroleum oils, water glycols, water/oil emulsions and many synthetics. A-8501 is a multipurpose grade 70 shore A category NBR. It is suited to use in compression applications at temperatures from –37°C to +129°C (–35°F to +265°F). It has excellent set fluid resistance. It is commonly used in T seals, Z seal lips and other applications requiring sealability and set resistance. NBR is not recommended for use where exposed to sunlight or ozone.
