Wind Energy

SKF is committed to drive the design and development of bearings, sealing and lubrication systems that enable more cost-effective wind energy generation. Today's turbines are installed in harsh, remote environments and the wind farms of the future will most likely have to face even tougher conditions. Working together with original equipment manufacturers and operators, SKF engineers provide dedicated solutions that optimize the reliability and performance of both new and existing wind turbine designs. These solutions also help reduce maintenance costs per every kWh produced.

SKF Solution Focus:  Nautilus bearing from SKF

Engineered to optimize turbine performance, the Nautilus double row tapered roller bearing from SKF does the work of two bearings.  Its compact design reduces weight, energy loss and maintenance to improve wind turbine reliability.

SKF Solution Focus:  Wind turbine yaw and blade bearing grease LGBB 2

LGBB 2 is a grease specially designed for extreme conditions involving very low speeds, high loads, low temperatures and oscillating conditions. This grease provides proper lubrication whether the turbine is operating or in stand-still mode, installed onshore, offshore, or in cold climate areas. LGBB 2 has excellent water and corrosion resistance, superior performance at low starting torque as well as a high thermal and mechanical stability. It is suitable in temperature conditions from -40 °C to 120 °C (-40 °F to 250 °F). If you wish to receive more information please contact us at windenergy@skf.com.
