SKF, an active partner in sustainability

SKF focus on the environmental impact from its operations resulted in the issuance of its first environmental policy in 1989. SKF was one of the first companies to publish a separate environmental report, starting in 1994.

The Group was also among the first international companies to receive a worldwide certification to the environmental standard ISO 14001, covering all its manufacturing units, logistics services, engineering and technical centres. SKF, the industry leader, set the standard that has now become a minimum requirement by many customers.

Similarly, the entire SKF Group was approved to the OHSAS 18001 standard in 2005, making SKF the first of major bearing manufacturers to achieve the standard.

Our continual drive for sustainable development is made clear from the awards and external recognition SKF receives each year. In 2006, SKF was selected for the seventh consecutive year as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. SKF is ranked as one of the industry leaders on all three dimensions evaluated: economic, environment and social.

In addition, SKF was selected in 2006 for inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series, for the sixth year running, for its achievements in the field of Corporate Social Responsibilities.
