Lubricators and manual lubrication

Correct bearing lubrication is essential to long bearing life

Choosing the right bearing grease for the right application is critical to bearing performance. Incorrect lubrication accounts for up to 36% of bearing failures. Conditions such as load, speed, temperature and environment determine the type of grease you need for each application. Equally important to choosing the right grease is to inject the correct quantity of grease at the right intervals. Over-greasing can have detrimental effects on the life of a bearing and will contribute to machine downtime and early failure.

SKF offers you two types of lubrication equipment: manual and automatic. Both methods are designed for ease-of-use and ensure there is no risk of contaminants into the grease.

In addition, they enable users to control the amount of grease used in each application. When manually applied with SKF grease guns and pumps, bearings can be lubricated before and during operation. With SKF automatic lubricators such as SYSTEM 24 or SYSTEM MultiPoint, the correct amount of grease is applied 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year, should you choose. Simply set the automatic timer on the units and lubrication takes care of itself. To assist you with determining the right amount of grease for your specific application, SKF has developed DialSet, a simple computerized relubrication calculation program which helps you decide which time setting is right for you. The program is available in multiple languages.
