Bearings may look the same regardless of who made them or where you bought them, but don’t be fooled: poorly made or carelessly handled and stored bearings are a disaster waiting to happen.
Even high quality SKF bearings, bumped around or exposed to dirt, dust and other contaminants can degrade and fail quickly – even catastrophically – bringing your plant’s production line to a halt and possibly causing expensive damage to your capital equipment.
Even worse are counterfeit bearings, fraudulently stamped with the SKF logo and packaged in phony SKF boxes (They’re out there-we’ve seen them!). These dangerous illegal bearings are often packed with inferior or even the wrong type of lubrication for their intended use.
So how can you be sure you get genuine SKF quality?
Specify bearings by name, and make sure you purchase them only from an SKF Authorized Distributor.
Warehouse Inspection
SKF Engineers are available to conduct warehouse inspections of your bearing stock at a minimal cost (to cover traveling expenses). SKF will furnish you with a complete confidential inspection report of its findings on completion.
