Gary Furman


In his current position at Nalco, Gary is responsible for research and new product development related to the tissue grade segment of the paper industry.  He has spent the past 24 years at Nalco in various research positions, with one excursion into marketing.  Gary’s areas of interest regarding tissue and papermaking applications include creping aids, strength additives, softeners, absorbency aids, retention aids, dewatering aids and sizing agents.  He is an inventor on 16 U.S. patents and an author or coauthor on 36 papers and presentations published in scientific and industry journals, or made at technical conferences.  Gary obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from Lebanon Valley College and both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in paper science from the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, WI.  Gary is also a member of the American Chemical Society and TAPPI.
