Compactness (size and weight reduction)
Compactness is important in racing vehicle system.
- Size reduction: compact systems allow a smaller vehicle size, with benefit on aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics. For example, a single seater powertrain size will influence directly the design of the rear part of the car, impacting heavily on aerodynamic overall performances.
- Weight reduction: as mass is reduced, more acceleration is possible with a given power delivered to the wheels, or alternatively car ballast can be freely adjusted to maximize vehicle dynamic performances
Through careful component design, integrated functions, and the use of advanced materials, it is possible to achieve all these goals, boosting vehicle performances, without sacrificing other product performances as life.
