SKF inaugurates new factory in China
"We are happy to see our factory investment in China support the growing truck business in the entire Asian region. Being close to our customers with both local production and engineering support is a high priority, both from a customer need and from a sustainability standpoint," says Tryggve Sthen, President, SKF Automotive.
The investment amounts to around SEK 590 million. The factory, built according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard, is now operational and employs around 500 people. One of its biggest customers, CNHTC, awarded SKF a big contract in 2011 to supply products for 7 years with a value of SEK 5,2 billion.
SKF developed the SKF Split Truck Hub Unit to meet the current and future needs of the commercial vehicle industry to raise productivity through longer service life and reduced maintenance. The unit consists of a split outer ring enabling a cost effective manufacturing process, meeting local customer requirements.
