To combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases was one of the eight Millennium Development Goals adopted by the international community at the United Nations. It is estimated 33 million people are living with HIV/AIDS (official figure from 2009), with vast majority of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2014, SKF South Africa celebrates 100 years. It witnessed the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the local society. SKF units in South Africa and Kenya have been working relentlessly to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS. See below for some of our Community Care programme in the region.
