With the SKF oscillating solutions you have access to a range of solutions for optimizing your design for excellent performance and reliability.
Steering systems kingpin solution
Today, advanced and electronically controlled – often by GPS – steering systems are used for example in tractors. This puts high demands on the operating environment for the sensors and bearings involved in the steering. It is most important that sensors are not interfered by lubricants or other contaminants.
The SKF TX self-lubricating spherical plain bearing combined with a new patented PTFE coated seal has proved to be highly effective. This combination works effectively without any lubricant yet offering excellent performance. This environmentally friendly solution results in eliminated need for lubricants and grease fittings, improved sensor reliability, extended mean time between failures and improved profitability of operations e.g., by reducing warranty claims.
Virtually maintenance-free boom arms and axle pivots
Traditionally, steel or bronze bushings are used in e.g., boom arms and axle pivot joints. Such bushings require maintenance and must regularly be relubricated, with environmental impact and increased cost as a result.
The SKF filament wound bushings are an environmentally friendly low-maintenance solution that improves cost-effectiveness. The bushing consists of a filament wound body with an inner layer of polymer and PTFE fibres and outer layers of glass fibres. The result is a compact, lightweight, corrosion resistant bushing that is rather insensitive to edge loading. It can also accommodate heavy loads, vibration and misalignment. For maximum service life under extreme conditions the SKF PAK wiper seal can protect the shaft against corrosion and the bushing from contaminants.
This environmentally friendly, highly reliable, proven and complete solution improves cost-effetiveness both for manufacturers and end users.
Lubrication-free heavy-duty articulation joints
In vehicles such as road rollers and other paving equipment, articulation joints are exposed to very heavy radial loads and vibrations. Also, the bearings are exposed to contaminants like dust, dirt, water and hot tarmac. Commonly, relubrication intense steel-on-steel spherical plain bearings are used in such articulation joints.
The sealed SKF TX spherical plain bearing contains a PTFE sliding liner on the inside surface of the outer ring, providing less deformation under load, improved wear-resistance, low affinity to moisture and excellent frictional behaviour. Further, the bearing is equipped with high-performance LS seals withstanding heavily contaminated conditions.
The SKF TX spherical plain bearing is a virtually maintenance-free, environmentally friendly and cost-efficient solution, reducing the total cost of ownership.
Virtually maintenance-free rod-end solution
In heavy mining and construction vehicles, using CARB toroidal roller bearings e.g., in the steering mechanism, improves reliability. The greased-for-life CARB bearing reduces maintenance cost and also reduce environmental impact since no grease escapes from the bearing. The friction in this bearing is low compared with traditional plain bushings and the radial clearance will not increase over time so the accuracy of the motion is maintained.
