SKF’s Solid Bronze bushings are manufactured from a traditionally robust tin bronze material (CuSn10P) This material offers excellent machineability and is ideally suited for highly demanding applications in tough environments. SKF offers a standard assortment of both plain and flanged cylindrical bushings. These bushings are insensitive to dirty environments, are resistant to shock loads and vibration at slow speeds, offer good resistance to corrosive conditions and are relatively tolerant to operation with a poor shaft surface finish. These bushings are intended to be lubricated with oil or grease.
SKF Sintered Bronze cylindrical bushings consist of a porous bronze matrix that is impregnated with lubricant. SKF offers a full range of plain and flanged cylindrical bushings manufactured from this material.
SKF Sintered Bronze bushings are most suitable for applications with rotating movements and where the self-lubricating performance requirements are high. They are widely used where is a requirement for a very high sliding velocity or where no external lubrication is possible.
SKF Wrapped Bronze cylindrical bushings are made completely of bronze and are intended for applications where re-lubrication is necessary due to a particularly dirty environment. The sliding surface is provided with diamond shaped indentations that act as lubrication reservoirs and contribute to the enhanced lubrication performance. Both plain and flanged cylindrical variants are available. SKF Wrapped bronze bushings are suitable for both radial and axial movements and are well suited for machinery where shock loads and/or vibrations occur.
SFK PTFE Composite dry sliding bushings are specially designed to operate without lubricant and are particularly suitable for high load / high-peed applications. They consist of a corrosion resistant tin-plated steel backing with a low-friction, self-lubricating PTFE sliding layer. A middle layer of porous tin bronze guarantees a strong bond between the backing and sliding surface. These bushings offer may features and advantages that include:
- Maintenance free operation
- High load carrying capacity
- Very wide operating temperature range (-200°C to 250°C)
- Ability to accommodate high sliding velocities
- A small operating clearance for increased accuracy.
SKF POM Composite bushings incorporate a material that is designed to operate under marginal lubrication conditions. They effectively bridge the gap between fully lubricated and dry sliding bushings. The material consists of three bonded layers: a copper-plated steel backing strip and a sintered porous tin bronze matrix that is covered with an acetal (polyoxymethylene, POM) resin. They offer high load carrying capacity, can operate at high sliding velocities and are well suited for dirty environments where lubricant cannot be supplied frequently as only a trace of lubricant is required for satisfactory operation over long periods. 3/…SKF Bushings
SKF Stainless Backed Composite dry sliding cylindrical bushings are completely self-lubricating and are ideal for applications that require a high resistance to corrosive elements.
They incorporate a stainless steel backing strip onto which a PTFE fibre / metal wire, double-sided fabric is bonded. The metal side of the fabric is continuously welded to the stainless steel backing and the PTFE side forms the sliding surface. These bushings are able to sustain heavy loads under slow sliding velocity conditions in a corrosive environment.
SKF PTFE Polyamide self-lubricating cylindrical bushings comprise a thermoplastic base material, containing PTFE additives and glass fibres. The small wall thickness of these bushings allows good heat conduction and facilitates operation at high sliding velocities. These bushings also offer electrically insulating properties and excellent resistance to corrosive conditions. They offer a cost-effective solution for many applications in the textile industry and for medical, fitness and household equipment.
SKF Filament Wound dry sliding cylindrical bushings incorporate low friction PTFE / high strength thermoplastic PES fibres that are wound in multi-layers in a specially developed resin matrix. They are self-lubricating and offer the following characteristics:
- High load carrying capacity
- Excellent resistance to shock loads and vibration
- Low sensitivity to edge pressures associated with misalignment
- Excellent resistance to corrosive conditions
- Electrically insulating properties.
