"It was only after joining SKF’s Racing Unit that I was fully able to realise my dream of working within Formula One."

Massimiliano - Engineering
Massimiliano is an Application Engineer at SKF’s Racing Unit in Airasca, Italy. His job involves following all activities related to new design, calculation and development for Formula One applications. An exciting and challenging role and one he clearly enjoys.

Working with Formula One cars must be an engineers dream?

"Absolutely! I work exclusively with two teams – Scuderia Ferrari and Scuderia Toro Rosso – and as a supplier to Magneti Marelli Motorsport."

What’s the best part of your job?

"I like my job for many reasons. If I had to summarise these, I’d say it’s because it allows me to develop my technical background through working with and following the development of systems on a Formula One car – gearbox, wheels, engine, chassis, specifically. Also, the great dynamic I enjoy with my customers and the positive pressure I feel to deliver keep me highly motivated."

Did SKF play a part in helping you find this great job?

"For sure. Since I was a teenager I’ve been fascinated by cars, engines and motorsport. Driven by this passion, I took a 5-year Mechanical Engineering degree at Turin Polytechnic then after graduation I worked for a consultancy in Ferrari GT quality. However it was only after joining SKF’s Racing Unit that I was fully able to realise my dream of working within Formula One."

And how about your future within SKF?

"I’ve always had the ambition to live and work abroad and as a worldwide company, SKF offers these kinds of opportunities - in fact, I’ve just started an international assignment in the UK. For me, this is proof that my future is in my hands at SKF and that I’ll get all the support I need if I continue to take the initiative and drive my own career."
