Central gear solutions

Optimized performance in harsh environments

In differential applications, constant high guiding accuracy of the pinion shaft is essential for optimal working conditions. To achieve it, manufacturers must be able to control bearing preload and reduce power loss. The SKF central gear solution can help.

Meet your load, design and housing requirements

The SKF central gear solutions includes the following options:
  • Tapered roller bearings (CL7C) and pinion seals
  • Hybrid pinion unit:  combination of tapered roller and angular contact ball bearing with pinion seal

SKF tapered roller bearings produced to the CL7C specifications simplify preload adjustment and offer extreme preload capability with minimal preload loss. Tapered roller bearings also deliver high stiffness, low noise and reduced vibration levels, even at higher speeds and with heavier loads.  Hybrid pinion units enable correct and stable pinion shaft positioning, with no setting effect and lower power loss.

Both approaches help simplify the assembly process and cut costs for OEMs. For end-users, the SKF central gear solution offers long service life and reliability, with no oil leakage and less noise.
