Preventing failures caused by electrical erosion

Hybrid main shafts are designed to protect bearings from the damaging effects of electrical erosion, one of the main causes of premature bearing failures in wind turbine generators. SKF hybrid bearings feature ceramic balls that act as an isolator, thereby preventing the possibility of electrical erosion damage and the failures that follow.

SKF hybrid bearings also feature steel rings for robust performance and reliability. Suitable for generator speeds from 150 to 400 rpm and designs with a 1-point suspension or no shaft, hybrid bearings are available in a wide range of sizes.
