Electrical generators in marine energy applications.

Date: 2014-03-20T13:00:00
Location: Edinburgh
Presenter: Markus Mueller, Head of Institute of Energy Systems, University of Edinburgh
Conference: SKF Ocean Energy technology Day
Markus Mueller

The presentation discusses knowledge and experience gained in the field of Electrical Generators in Marine applications. Markus’ first interest in renewable energy systems, and in particular the design of novel electrical generation systems for wind, wave and tidal current energy converters was during his Phd studies at University of Cambridge. Since arriving at Edinburgh his work on permanent magnet machines has evolved to the development of a novel permanent magnet machine topology suitable for both rotary and linear machines. He is establishing an electrical machines and drives test facility at Edinburgh for both rotary and linear machines.
