Summary

Turbine operators need to take control over their assets. Vattenfall, in cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology, has developed a tool to evaluate the life cycle cost and profit of offshore wind farms. The model focuses on modeling the operation and maintenance and its impact on the costs: wind turbine reliability and maintainability, retrofits, maintenance strategies (e.g. condition based maintenance), facility location, supportability and warranty/maintenance contracts/insurances. The basis is the ECN Operations and Maintenance tool that has been further developed. This presentation introduces the model and how work orders can be structured using RDS-PP and become valuable input. Being able to do a real life cycle cost analysis of the profitability of improved technical reliability is clearly estimated.
