Summary

Acoustic Emission (AE) can be used to detect machines that are silently crying in pain due to a lack of lubrication, contaminated lubrication or incorrect choice of lubrication. This session explains the theory and practice of AE and explains how enveloping can be applied to the signal to further improve the reliability of a diagnosis. It is worth noting that AEE supersedes an older technique called Spectral Emitted Energy (SEE).
