QR codes on all SKF vehicle aftermarket product packaging for detailed technical information in Europe

2014 October 20, 12:00 Europe

SKF has expanded the QR code project from wheel bearing and timing belt kits to our full product range. Each code can be scanned using any smartphone or tablet and provides instant access to a mobile web page containing all the necessary and up-to-date information for the respective SKF repair kit.

This initiative has been put in place to help repair technicians find relevant, technical information wherever they are and support them in carrying out repairs correctly. The information is not only accessible quickly and easily but the technology allows us to update it as often as needed.
“We know that having the right information, at the right time, is key for our customers. By collecting all our knowledge and making it available with a click on your smartphone or tablet we are able to provide updated information right then and there.”, says Lars Rundgren, Product Data Information manager.

By scanning the QR codes, customers will get instant access to the following information:

  • Fitting instructions
  • Product images
  • Engine diagrams
  • Fitting videos
  • Technical bulletins
  • Product description
  • Kit content
  • Complete list of applications for that kit

The project will be launched in Europe at the end of 2014 and customers can expect to see this new packaging on their shelves during Quarter 1 of 2015.

Further product information can be found in the SKF online catalogue available at or as a download via the SKF Automotive parts search app.
