Permissible speed

The permissible speed can be estimated using the speed ratings listed in the product tables and applying the information provided under Speeds. If no reference speed is listed in the product tables, the limiting speed is the permissible speed.
SKF recommends oil lubrication for bearings with a ring centred cage (designation suffix MA or MB). When these bearings are grease lubricated (→ Lubrication) the speed factor is limited to A ≤ 250 000 mm/min.

A=n dm [mm/min]
dm=bearing mean diameter [mm]
= 0,5 (d + D)
n=rotational speed [r/min]
For applications exceeding these values, contact the SKF application engineering service.

Matched bearing

For matched bearings, the permissible speed calculated for a single bearing should be reduced to approximately 80% of the quoted value.
