Not standardized

  • bore and outside diameter of many metric bearings
    → diameter series 9 or 0 (ISO 15)
  • cones and cups dimensions of many inch bearings
    → AFBMA Standard 19 (ANSI B3.19);
    ANSI/ABMA Standard 19.2 has replaced the above standard, but does not include dimensions.

Internal clearance

Basic design bearings:

  • delivered as ready-to-mount bearing units with an axial internal clearance adapted to the actual application
  • bearing components should be arranged in the prescribed order and may not be interchanged with components of another bearing

All SKF Explorer bearings (→ SKF Explorer bearings):

  • mean value of the axial internal clearance expressed in μm is identified by the designation suffix C followed by a three- or four-digit number
    (for clearance values not listed in the product tables, contact SKF)

Angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings produces moment loads in the bearing. Any misalignment increases bearing noise and reduces bearing service life.
