Design of associated components

Housing

The housing bore seat should be sufficiently wide so that after mounting there should be about 1 mm from the mounted washer to the edge of the housing bore (fig 1).
A suitable fit will be obtained for the sealing washers if the housing bore is machined to tolerance JS8, although other tolerances as used for rolling bearings are also suitable.

Shaft

A suitable fit on the shaft will be obtained if the seat is machined to a tolerance between the upper limit for j6 (k6 where d > 40 mm) and the lower limit for g6. If the tolerance is selected without reference to the bearing, then h7 will be suitable.
