SKF Client Needs Analysis - Asset Management
Take the first step to determine your asset management programme improvements
How is this of interest to you?
Over 90% of plants that implement a condition monitoring programme do so to reduce unscheduled machine breakdowns – in effect, “firefighting.” SKF Client Needs Analysis provides the insights you need to develop a world-class reliability programme.
Since 2003, SKF has conducted more than 1 400 client analyses with customers across a range of industries, giving us a rich database to compare your plant’s performance to others in your market. An SKF Client Needs Analysis can help you identify ways to:
- Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Plant profitability
- Plant safety
- Maintenance programme efficiency
A comprehensive maintenance strategy can transform maintenance from a cost centre into a profit centre. Topics include estimated annual replacement asset value, maintenance costs versus budget, overall availability of assets, and more.
Being able to better identify potential faults before they become a problem will decrease unplanned downtime and increase production efficiency. Topics include work order process, compliance and priority, maintenance programme effectiveness, and more.
Detecting problems sooner rather than later enables better scheduling of labour and spare parts for repair. Topics include time-based planning and budget compliance, standardization of job plans and procedures, overtime levels, and more.
With an optimum work execution programme, maintenance labour productivity increases, maintenance rework decreases, and total maintenance costs are reduced. Topics include work order history, actual v. estimated costs for labour and materials, maintenance team productivity, supervisor to craftsperson ratio, and more.
In order to optimize and continue to improve, there are a number of activities that can be undertaken. These will depend on the findings generated by the SKF Client Needs Analysis and can include such things as root cause analysis, statistical analysis, repriortization and improvement of maintenance tasks and technology upgrades.
Taking the first step
To secure a successful Client Needs Analysis, SKF provides pre-assessment support and guidelines. Depending on your situation, the analysis can be conducted at one site or at multiple sites within your organization. Once the CNA is complete, you will receive:
- A spider chart illustrating a micro-level assessment for each question versus the maturity phases
- A matrix showing a macro-level assessment of your plant’s maturity level for all four main facets of the AEO process
- A ranked deviation chart illustrating your performance question-by-question versus averages in your industry
- A report of findings and recommendations for improving asset reliability
Taking the next steps
SKF can help you implement the changes needed to realize all potential benefits and achieve the desired results. Using proprietary tools, SKF can help you calculate expected savings from various activities, prior to implementing them. SKF can also help you build a financial case to justify your reliability investment with management.
