Backing bearings

Backing bearings are typically cylindrical roller bearings, with extra thick outer rings and handled in batches per shaft. Backing bearings are preferably handled as complete sets.

In additional to the general remanufacturing process the set of backing bearings total radial cross section (wall thickness) is machined to achieve a very tight cross section variation of all bearings within the batch/shaft. The backing bearing remanufacturing process has been adapted from the general bearing remanufacturing process:
  • regrind of the outer ring outside surface and refresh the logarithmic profile
  • assemble, inspect and reclassify section height groups.
