Meet the World - Gothia Cup qualifier

SKF Meet the world is an initiative that makes it possible for young people all over the world to qualify to compete in Gothia Cup.

This is done by arranging local tournaments with up to 32 teams in each - where the winner gets to travel to Gothenburg, Sweden and participate in the world biggest football tournaments for young people - the Gothia Cup.

In Gothenburg the participants meet other young people from all over the world.

In 2014, SKF held qualifying tournaments in 20 countries. Please visit gothiacup.com for more information.

China - Meet the World

The Chineese qualifying tournament took place in Beijing, 13 - 14 May at Beijing Sports University.

The “Meet the World” program from China was enriched in 2014 in terms of depth and breadth. Besides the sponsorship from SKF, SKF distributors were also engaged in the project which increased the breadth.

Yao Wen, Vice Secretary-General of China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), Zhu Jiming, President of SKF China and Lars Fredén, Ambassador, Embassy of Sweden, were present at the opening ceremony and kicked off the ball for the game. This year, there are 10 teams in total, all of which from primary schools in the remote and rural areas in China.

SKF has successfully run this tournament locally in China since 2007. Until 2013, 1,000 young players from 80 teams have participated in this tournament and 9 of them have qualified to compete in the Gothia Cup in Sweden.
