Fund raise campaign to help drought victims

Drought in the northern part of Kenya has affected millions. Thousands of men, women and children were starving and malnutrition became inevitable.

A fund-raising campaign, Kenyans for Kenya, was initiated by the Safaricom Foundation, KCB Foundation, local companies and media, with the aim to fight for the local people's recovery from starvation.

Money raised is used to provide the locals with much-needed food and water. This activity is overseen by the Kenya Red Cross. The organization also focuses on long-term projects by repairing and constructing water infrastructure in affected areas. Pilot agriculture projects will also be carried out in select areas of Northern Kenya – Turkana Central, Turkana North, East Pokot, Moyale and Marsabit and over 600 tonnes of Unimix has been dispatched there.

The goal of the campaign was to raise KES 1 billion. SKF Kenya donated KES 100,000.
