SKF will present a range of innovations customized especially to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry at the Offshore Northern Seas Exhibition (ONS) 2014.

Gothenburg, Sweden, 22 August 2014: SKF will showcase a range of innovations that improve reliability and efficiency for Oil & Gas OEMs and operators at the Offshore Northern Seas Exhibition (ONS) 2014, which takes place in Stavanger, Norway, 25th-28th August. The new products have been customized especially to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry.

SKF nominated for the Offshore Northern Seas Innovation Award
SKF’s Wireless Machine Condition Sensor, plus low torque operator gate valve assemblies for both subsea and surface valves, have been nominated for the prestigious ONS Innovation Award, which recognizes the crucial importance of cutting edge products and solutions in the global oil and gas sector. The winner of the Innovation Award will be revealed at the Innovation Luncheon on Tuesday 26th August.

Low torque operator assemblies for gate valves
The innovative SKF design - combining ball or roller screws, support bearings, seals and lubrication in a unitized assembly - simplifies installation and field retrofit.  New design concepts, such as the anti-backdrive feature first introduced to the market by SKF, increased power density and very low torque make them suitable for applications with high reliability and low maintenance requirements, such as subsea ROV-operated installations and hydraulic fracturing operations. CAPEX and OPEX are reduced since no auxiliary gearbox or hydraulic systems are needed.

Wireless Machine Condition Sensors - an effective alternative to wired systems
Combining sensor and relay node into one unit, the battery-powered SKF Wireless Machine Condition Sensor is a compact condition monitoring sensor that uses WirelessHART mesh network communications protocol. The ATEX Zone 0 certified unit provides the oil and gas industry with a wireless monitor that can improve maintenance programmes, reduce maintenance and installation costs, and enhance safety. The unit collects data on temperature and vibrations caused by misalignment, imbalance and mechanical looseness and rolling element bearing condition.

SKF locking T-seals increase reliability in the harshest operating conditions
The patented SKF locking T-seal offers equipment designers and end-users a robust replacement option for conventional T-seals and spring back-up seals, both of which are subject to damage during installation, assembly, or disassembly.  SKFs locking T-seals are specifically designed to meet the extreme environmental conditions of high pressure/ high temperature sealing applications.

Automatic lubrication systems improve performance and dependability
SKF and Lincoln automatic lubrication systems support customers in the oil and gas industry by delivering the exact quantity of the appropriate lubricant to the right place at the right time. The lubrication systems reduce production downtime and the associated costs, while minimising maintenance and extending the life of equipment. A full range of solutions for all weather conditions and, with requisite agency approvals automate this important task.

    Kaydon at ONS
The 2013 acquisition of Kaydon, an SKF Group brand, makes SKF the leading supplier of slewing ring and thin section bearings for Oil and Gas applications such as iron rough necks, crane turrets and mooring systems.  Now, with its expanded product range and manufacturing footprint, SKF can dramatically improve supply chain and logistics support to OEMs and end users in the North Sea and globally.

1,000th SKF S2M Magnetic Bearing for Oil and Gas
SKF’s capability to support the Oil and Gas industry was underlined this year when the 1,000th SKF S2M magnetic bearing was put into operation. The frictionless, oil-free, low maintenance operation of SKF S2M magnetic bearings has proved a powerful solution by bringing the benefits of high efficiency, long service life and low maintenance critical to Oil & Gas applications.

SKF experts will be on hand to explain the benefits of all these innovations to delegates, using product demonstrations, case studies and presentations.

Offshore Northern Seas, one of the key industry exhibitions and conferences for the international offshore oil and gas industry, this year takes place at the Stavanger Forum, Gunnar Warebergsgate 13, 4021 Stavanger, Norway. Visitors to the exhibition will find SKF at booth 1370, Hall N.
