This presentation discusses what it takes to implement a reliability program in upstream oil and gas production. After defining offshore platforms' reliability requirements which determine how condition monitoring systems is done, the reliability program's success depends on top management support and an appropriate condition monitoring system. Management must clearly define goals and objectives, and drive best practice standardization leading to selecting the correct hardware, software and training. Success can be attributed to integrating individual platform operations and facilitating the culture change needed to support reliability standardization. The management team's focus on these improvements has led to reducing costs and improving productivity within their upstream operations.
