SKF supply different types of actuators: the actuators aside, developed for tundish cars, is based on roller screws.

It can raise 320 kN at a speed of 30 mm per second, with a stroke of 650 mm and maximum load on the 4 actuators raising the tundish weighing 1 000 kN. Their nominal life is 50 000 hours or 33 000 cycles.

Currently 25 steelworks, including plants in Russia, India, Canada and Brazil, rely on Transrol screws for their continuous casting operation. The actuators cope daily with extremely arduous operating conditions in situations where a breakdown would be unacceptable.

 

 

Planetary roller screws are suitable for the most demanding applications. The robust nut can withstand shock loads and the timing mechanism ensures reliability even in harsh environments.
