To protect the bearing arrangement at the end of a shaft, and to avoid the possibility of an accident caused by an exposed shaft end, insert bearing housings and ball bearing units for a wide assortment are able to accommodate one of the following end cover designs:
ECY series (fig. 1)
ECW series (fig. 2)
These end covers have an optional drainage hole that can be easily opened as required.
ECB series (fig. 3)
Sealed ball bearing units with the designation suffix DFH are supplied with an ECB series end cover already included. For all other units, end covers are accessories and must be ordered separately. The end cover designations, together with the distance that the end cover protrudes from the housing (fig. 4
, fig. 5
), are listed in the relevant product tables.

ECY and ECW end covers are made of polypropylene (PP), have good resistance to most chemicals and can withstand operating temperatures up to 100 °C (210 °F). They are mounted by snapping them into the recess of the housing.
ECB end covers are made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), have good resistance to most chemicals and can withstand operating temperatures up to 100 °C (210 °F)
. They form an effective interference seal with the housing (fig. 6
). Positive retention to the housing is provided by four circumferential interlocking areas, which requires a locked cover to be rotated before it can be removed. Both the locking mechanism and sealing features are patented.
Rotating parts hazard. To avoid serious injury, do not mount or dismount end cover unless shaft has stopped rotating and the machine has been locked out or the shaft has been secured so it can’t rotate.
