Housing designs

SKF plummer (pillow) block housings for insert bearings are available as standard in a wide variety of designs and materials. The standard assortment includes housings made of:
  • cast iron
  • composite
  • pressed steel
  • composite for the SKF Food Line
  • stainless steel

Attaching to a support surface

Plummer block housings have two bolt holes in their base through which they can be attached to a support surface with threaded fasteners. The bolt holes vary for different housing designs and materials:
  • Cast iron
    • SY(J) series
      → cast oblong bolt holes
    • SYF and SYFJ series (short base)
      → threaded holes in the support base
  • Composite
    • SYK series
      → oblong bolt holes, reinforced with chromium6+ free zinc-coated steel inserts
  • Pressed steel
    • P series
      → round bolt holes
  • Composite for the SKF Food Line
    • P2BC series
      → oblong bolt holes, reinforced with austenitic stainless steel inserts
    • P2BTC series (short base)
      → threaded austenitic stainless steel inserts in the support base
  • Stainless steel
    • P2BSS series
      → cast oblong bolt holes
    • P2BTSS series (short base)
      → threaded holes in the support base
