Sensor-bearing for small electric motors

Universal Motors typically use a speed sensor (tachometer) to provide speed feedback to the motion control system.
SKF Sensor-Bearing Units provide the following multi-sensing functions in addition to the normal bearing operation:
- The relative position of the inner ring in relation to the outer ring
- The rotational speed
- The direction of rotation
- The magnitude of acceleration or deceleration
Permanent Magnet brushless DC motors frequently use hall sensors or encoders to sense the rotor position. SKF also provides specific sensor-bearing solution to sense absolute position of the rotor.
